On the nucleon association theory in light nuclei

Description

A new approach to the problem of the association of nucleons in light nuclei is discussed. It is based on the assumption that the same nucleon can simultaneously be a part of several strongly correlated groups of nucleons (clusters). In the framework of this approach a uniform scheme is proposed to construct the ground state wave function of several light nuclei (4<A<8), which are assumed to be composed of two quasi α-clusters. The equation for the wave function of the relative motion of the quasi α-clusters looks like a Schroedinger-equation with non-local potential, which is expressed by the nucleon-nucleon potential and the wave functions of the α-clusters. The applicability of the method is illustrated with the simplest molecular systems, the hydrogen ions H2+ and H-
