Implication of structural elements and lithofacies on groundwater flow and recharge at Tushka-Abu-Simbel area

Description

Twenty one groundwater samples were collected form depths at 40 to 100 meters from the nubian sandstone aquifer at toshka-abu-simble area and vicinities . the samples were subjected to both isotopic (O-18 , deuterium) and chemical analysis and inter related to the geological and hydrogeological parameters of the aquifer in the study area. the salinity of the samples varies in the rage from 280 to 2300, about 80% of the samples have their salinity in the range from 500 ppm to 1000 ppm . the salt content of the samples is dominated by sodium followed by calcium , magnesium in the cationic side and by sulphate followed by chloride, bicarbonate in the anionic side. the meteoric character is predominant where Na2So4 ad NaHCO3 genetic salts appear in the salt combination of about 75% of the sample. The isotopic content of the nubian sandstone aquifer in the study area shows a general enrichment
