Device for the transport of samples and flux monitors
Description
In the activation analysis of shortlived radioisotopes, especially in the 16O(n,p)16N reaction in which the nitrogen produced has a decay time of only 7.3 sec, the transport of the samples and the flux monitors to the detector system must be very fast. This is done by means of a pneumatic system operated by compressed air and by carrier capsules equipped with holding tongs which release the samples and the flux monitors upon pressure contact. The samples and the flux monitors fall into a collection cone, are separated from each other on the basis of their different thicknesses in a separator and carried to the measuring points through shafts. On transport the sample and the flux monitors are put on top of each other sandwich-type for control of the neutron flux density. (DG)

Bei der Aktivierungsanalyse kurzlebiger Radioisotope, insbesondere der Reaktion 16O(n,p)16N, wobei der erzeugte Stickstoff nur eine Zerfallszeit von 7,3 sec besitzt, muss der Proben- und Flussmonitorentransport zum Detektorsystem sehr schnell erfolgen. Hierzu dient eine mittels Pressluft betaetigte Rohrpostanlage und Traegerkapseln mit Zangenhalterungen, die bei Druckkontakt die Proben und Flussmonitore freigeben. Diese fallen in einen Auffangtrichter, werden in einer Trennvorrichtung aufgrund ihrer unterschiedlichen Dicke voneinander getrennt und ueber Schaechte zu den Messstellen gefuehrt. Beim Transport sind die Probe und die Flussmonitore, zur Kontrolle der Neutronenflussdichte, sandwichartig aufeinandergelegt. (DG)Files
