The incidence, reproducibility and mechanism of gastrooesophageal reflux demonstrated by radiology in normals, dyspeptics, and patients with oesophagitis

Description

The incidence, reproducibility, and mechanisms of food-stimulated gastrooesophageal reflux demonstrated by radiography were investigated in 100 subjects: 30 normaldeletes, 52 dyspeptics, and 18 patients with oesophagitis. The average incidence and reproducibility were in normals: 17%-76% respectively, in dyspeptics: 40%-86% respectively, and in oesophagitis: 83%-81% respectively. In normals only active gastrooesophageal reflux was noticed whereas in dyspeptics and patients with oesophagitis free as well as active gastrooesophageal reflux occurred. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

100 Personen wurden radiographisch untersucht und die Haeufigkeit, Reproduzierbarkeit und die Mechanismen des durch Nahrungsaufnahme ausgeloesten gastrooesophagealen Refluxes nachgewiesen. 30 Personen waren gesund, 52 litten an Dyspepsie und 18 an Oesophagitis. Bei den gesunden Probanden waren die durchschnittliche Haeufigkeit und Reproduzierbarkeit 17 bzw. 76%, bei den Dyspeptikern 40 bzw. 86% und bei den Oesophagitis erkrankten Personen 83 bzw. 81%. Waehrend bei den gesunden Probanden nur ein aktiver gastrooesophagaler Reflex festgestellt wurde, trat bei den Dyspeptikern und bei den Patienten mit Oesophagitis sowohl freier als auch aktiver gastrooesophagealer Reflux auf.
