II. Depolarization cross-section of the (1s3p) sup(3)PIsub(u) (N=1) level of H2* due to electrostatic long range interactions
Description
The depolarization cross-section of the (1s 3p) sup(3)PIsub(u) (v=0, N=1, I=0) level of H2* in H2*-H2 collision is found to be 160A2, when only the long range electrostatic interactions are considered. The influence of electronic spin recoupling is weak (sigma=175A2 when neglecting spin). Agreement with experimental value is satisfactory and shows that the quadrupole-quadrupole interaction may be responsible for the collision
