Description

Both the single-phase and the two-phase natural circulation cooling system has characteristic effects on the dynamic behavior of heating reactors. In two-phase systems, thermohydraulically conditioned flow oscillations can occur for certain pairs of values of inlet subcooling and thermal power, which, because of the feedback of the moderator density on the reactivity, lead to power oscillations. By means of a stability analysis the stability domains were identified for the operation of small and large heating reactors. In support of the computational model experiments were carried out on a heated test loop with natural circulation cooling. The analysis of the irregular load following behavior of heating reactors with natural circulation cooling takes up relatively much space. The HERE-300 and NHR-200 types are typical examples of single-phase and two-phase cooling, respectively. Contrary to common expectations the dynamic calculations prove that even the two-phase system shows a natural load following behavior under heating reactor conditions. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Die Ein- und Zweiphasigkeit der Naturumlaufkuehlung wirkt sich auch charakteristisch auf das dynamische Verhalten der Heizreaktoren aus. In zweiphasigen Systemen koennen fuer bestimmte Wertepaare von Eintrittsunterkuehlung und Heizleistung thermohydraulisch bedingte Durchsatzoszillationen auftreten, die wegen der Rueckwirkung der Moderatordichte auf die Reaktivitaet zu Leistungsoszillationen fuehren. Durch eine Stabilitaetsanalyse werden in der vorliegenden Untersuchung die Stabilitaetsbereiche fuer den Betrieb von kleinen und grossen Heizreaktoren identifiziert. Zur Absicherung des Rechenmodells dienen Experimente an einer beheizten Testschleife mit Naturumlaufkuehlung. Einen relativ breiten Raum nimmt die Analyse des ungeregelten Lastfolgeverhaltens von Heizreaktoren mit Naturumlaufkuehlung ein. Beispiele fuer den ein- und zweiphasigen Fall sind dabei HERE-300 und NHR-200. Entgegen der landlaeufigen Erwartung zeigen die dynamischen Rechnungen, dass auch das zweiphasige System unter Heizreaktorbedingungen ein von Natur aus richtiges Lastfolgeverhalten aufweist. (orig.)
