Description
A 22-year-old man underwent radiation therapy with 60 Gy following resection of anaplastic astrocytoma. After 3.5 years, he had headache and nasal bleeding. CT scan and MRI showed a mass in the ethmoid and sphenoid sinus. Tumor biopsy diagnosed this tumor as an olfactory neutroblastoma, which was considered to be a radiation-induced tumor. It is very rare that an olfactory neuroblastoma arises from an irradiated lesion. Following complete resection of the tumor, reconstruction of the anterior skull base defect was successfully carried out with a rectus abdominis muscle flap. (author)
