The shape memory alloy actuator controlled by the Sun's radiation
- 1. LMEET Laboratory, FST Settat, Hassan 1st University of Settat, Settat (Morocco)
Description
Shape memory alloys (SMAs) have many thermo-mechanical characteristics which can return to their original value once exposed to a specific temperature. These materials are able to change their mechanical features such as shape, displacement or frequency in response to stress or heating; this may be useful for actuators in many fields such as aircraft, robotics and microsystems. In order to know the effect of the Sun's radiation on SMAs we have conducted a numerical study that simulates a SMA actuator. (paper)
