Development of the fuel-cycle costs in nuclear power stations with light-water reactors

Description
The authors investigate the fuel-cycle costs in nuclear power stations with light-water reactors in the Federal Republic of Germany in the years 1966 to 1976. They determine the effect of the price development for the individual components of the nuclear fuel cycle on the fuel-cycle costs averaged over the whole power station life. Here account is taken also of inflation rates and the change in the DM/US $ parity. In addition they give the percentage apportionment of the fuel-cycle costs. The authors show that real fuel-cycle costs for nuclear power stations with light-water reactors in the Federal Republic of Germany have risen by 11% between 1966 and 1976. This contradicts the often repeated reproach that fuel costs in nuclear power stations are rising very steeply and are no longer competitive. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Verfasser untersuchen die Entwicklung der Brennstoffzykluskosten von Kernkraftwerken mit Leichtwasserreaktoren in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in den Jahren 1966 bis 1976. Sie stellen den Einfluss der Preisentwicklung der einzelnen Komponenten des nuklearen Brennstoffkreislaufs auf die gesamten ueber die Kraftwerkslebensdauer gemittelten Brennstoffkreislaufkosten fest. Dabei beruecksichtigen sie auch Inflationsraten und die Aenderung der DM/US-$-Paritaet. Zusaetzlich geben sie die prozentuale Aufschluesselung der Brennstoffkreislaufkosten an. Die Verfasser zeigen, dass die realen Brennstoffkreislaufkosten von Kernkraftwerken mit Leichtwasserreaktoren in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zwischen 1966 und 1976 um 11% anstiegen. Dies widerlegt den oft zitierten Vorwurf explosionsartig steigender und nicht mehr konkurrenzfaehiger Brennstoffkosten von Kernkraftwerken. (orig.)Additional details
