In vivo migration of 111-indium-oxine labelled human peripheral mononuclear cells
- 1. Vienna Univ. (Austria). Abt. fuer Nuklearmedizin
Description
The kinetics and homing of Indium-111 oxine labelled peripheral blood mononuclear cells (MNCs) were investigated. In preliminary studies the maximum labelling dose of Indium-111 oxine which did not reduce the viability and proliferative potential of MNCs was found to be 10 μCi/108 MNCs. This dose proved to be effective for gamma camera imaging provided enough cells were collected by lymphapheresis. After reinjection of the labelled MNCs to patients with malignant lymphatic disease lymphocyte accumulation was first seen in the spleen accompanied by some minor MNC accumulation in the liver. Lymph nodes began to show activity uptake after variable latencies (48 to 96 hours). It is concluded that the method might have diagnostic potential in systemic lymphatic disease. (Author)
