Attenuation of high energy bremsstrahlung by means of iron barriers

Description
The Monte Carlo method was applied to calculate bremsstrahlung spectra of electron accelerators for real thickness of targets in the 4-50 MeV energy range of accelerated electrons. Data on effective coefficients of attenuation and buildup factors for bremsstrahlung monodirected beams for 1-80 cm thick iron barriers are obtained. Dependence of radiation contrast in the given energy range on the barrier thickness is determined. The results are of interest for estimation of the characteristics of radiation methods of defectoscopy
