Feasibility study on production of 150 ton/year thorium nitrate and 21 ton/year cerium nitrate

Description

From the preliminary study was found out the process production, which had the relation with cost, sell price and the profitable yield. The capacity design production was 150 ton/year thorium nitrate and 210 ton/year cerium nitrate, for 300 operation days in year. The raw material required were 4.351,5 ton of monazite sand: 2.253 to of H2SO4; 105.8 ton of HNO3 and 521.1 ton of NH4(OH), the plant needs 82 labours. The fixed capital of Rp. 6,048,365,400, working capital of Rps 1,343,056,100 and manufacturing cost of Rps 9,477,209,100 were found out using economic analysis. Also it was calculated that the selling price of product was Rps 29.000/kg of thorium rate and Rps 38,000 of cerium nitrate, the selling price is cheaper than price of import. The plant is feasible to be built in Indonesia, according to the calculation the profit after tax was Rps 2,282,232,720, the pay out time was 2.5 years, the percentage rate of return was 31.13 %, the net present value was Rps 184,848,413, the break even point was 57% and benefit cost ratio was 1.03.
