Electron polarization under elastic ed scattering

Description
An expression for polarization of elastic-scattered ultrarelativistic electrons, partially polarized in the initial state, on the oriented deuterons, their mixed spin state being axially symmetric, is obtained. Effect of target and 2H structure state symmetry axis orientation is studied. Conditions for for extremum existence are ascertained int he dependence of scatterred electron polarization on the pulse transmitted and extreme values can achieve 1 (scattered electrons are completely polarized). Scattered electron polarization analysis allows one not only to separate electromagnetic form factors of 2H, but to ascertain relative phases of all the reduced matrix elements, thus giving new information about 2H structure. 10 refs.; 4 figs
