Deposition Behaviors of 210Pb and 7Be Observed in Malaga, Spain

Bulk atmospheric deposition of 210Pb and 7Be has been measured at Malaga (4o28' 8''W; 36o 43'40''N), a coastal Mediterranean station in the south of Spain. Collector was continuously deployed from January 2005 through September 2010 for monthly periods. The time variations of the depositions of mentioned radionuclides have been discussed in relation with various meteorological factors. The depositions show a marked seasonal variation with higher values in winter and autumn months and lower values in spring and summer. The depositions of 210Pb and 7Be are correlated indicating that removal behavior from the atmosphere is relatively similar. The measurement of major element concentrations (Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, K+) was used to assess the origin of air masses. (author)
