Extraction chromatographic studies of uranium(VI) with versatic-10 and its separation from thorium, cerium and zirconium

  • 1. Visvabharati Univ., Santiniketan (India). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

By reversed phase extraction chromatographic technique, silica gel coated with versatic-10 (a high molecular weight carboxylic acid) extracts uranium(VI) quantitatively from 0.01 M acetic acid solution in the pH range 5.4-6.0. In the recommended condition uranium has been separated from different binary and synthetic multicomponent mixtures containing Th(IV), Ce(IV) and Zr(IV) by exploiting the differences in extractability and by selective stripping.
