Method of radioactive waste vitrification and equipment therefor

Description

Glass forming raw materials are melted in a melting furnace in a non-active environment. The melted and clarified basic glass flows from the melting part to the feeder channel in a closed active space. Radioactive waste is fed to the feeder channel in form of powder, calcine or fine fritted glass which is heat-melted and joined to basic glass in a homogenizing unit. The homogenized melt is then poured into containers. (E.S.)
