Main concept of the RW management centre in the Andreeva Bay. Agenda item 3 (Paper in English)

The paper and presentation Main Concept of the RW Management Centre in Andreeva Bay by V.Sorokin, Russian Research and Design Institute of Power Technology. The paper reviewed the problems of legacy RW management in North-West Russia. In particular, the concept of liquid and solid RW treatment in Andreeva Bay was described. That concept was developed in the ''Justification of investments in the spent nuclear fuel and RW management infrastructure in Andreeva Bay'' – the work carried out jointly with international partners. The paper assessed the feasibility and expediency of establishing the proposed RW management complex at Andreeva Bay as a regional centre for other nuclear legacy sites. The establishment of such a regional centre would also depend on the choice of future regional RW disposal facilities. The paper offered managerial and technical options to optimise RW management in the region.
