A subject of controversy. The indexing of gas and oil prices in the European Union

Creators

Description

Since several years now, a question is regularly brought forward: should the natural gas prices be unlinked from oil prices? The Eurogas association has worked on this problem and published on November 2001 a study entitled 'oil-gas price linkage in the European Union' which is reworked and adapted in this article. This study presents in particular, the indexing of gas prices that are linked to the main part of the supplies to EU countries and presents also data about oil and gas prices in strongly liberalized markets like in the UK and in the USA.
