Description
A commercial fabrication of MOX-fuel for nuclear power reactors with the use of both energetic plutonium resulted from spent fuel reprocessing and W-plutonium is one of the urgent problems of the nuclear fuel cycle. First of all it is connected with a number of international agreements on reduction in nuclear weapon, signed recently. The use of W-plutonium in MOX-fuel is one of its conversion methods in Russia. Currently the most optimum methods of realizing W-Pu conversion are under study, and the best implementation of the future commercial production process of MOX fuel will be of decisive importance for the final choice of the method.
