Fuel assembly and nuclear reactor
Description
The present invention concerns a fuel assembly filled with uranium/plutonium mixed fuels arranged densely in a light water cooled and light water moderated reactor. In a BWR type reactor, for example, the void coefficient of coolants flowing upward along the axial direction of a fuel assembly is higher at the downstream. Accordingly, fuels of lower plutonium enrichment degree than that in the upstream region are used in the downstream region of the coolant of higher average void coefficient of burning. Increase of the void coefficient due to high void coefficient is suppressed by using fuels of low enrichment degree. Since the void coefficient of the reactor core is kept low, the void coefficient can be improved with no decrease in reactivity. (T.M.)
