Tracer diffusion in YBa2Cu3O7-δ

  • 1. Argonne National Laboratory, IL (USA)

Description

Oxygen tracer diffusion measurements have been made in polycrystalline, in ab- and c-oriented single crystals and in untwinned single crystals of YBa2Cu3O7-δ using Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry over a range of oxygen partial pressures and temperatures. The results are in accord with the expectations suggested from the crystal structure. Cation tracer diffusion is much slower than anion diffusion. Tracer diffusion of 110Ag, 60Co, 65Zn, 133Ba, and 88Y has been measured using the serial sectioning technique. The results will be discussed in terms of defect models and site selectivity and compared to results from sintering and deformation studies on the same material
