Physicochemical interaction of composition on the basis of Al2O3 for long-lived radionuclides storage

Description
An additional barrier in matrix, presenting a porous immobilizer, containing radionuclides in the form of oxides and monoaluminates, has been developed and created. It is ascertained that immobilizer unit (porous matrix of Al2O3 surrounded by Sm2O3 layer) impregnated with solution of zirconium nitrate should be subjected to thermal treatment at t< 1100 degC to create screening surface from zirconium oxide; moreover, even small amount of ZrO2, covering the sample, plays the role of the screening layer. 3 refs., 1 fig., 1 tab
