Description

Extraction behaviour of U(VI) and Th(IV) and fission products viz. Cs(I), Sr(II), Eu(III) and Zr(IV) has been investigated employing 0.5 M D2EHIBA in n-dodecane as extractant under THOREX feed conditions. An improved separation of 233U from Th and fission products could be achieved using 0.5 M D2EHIBA in n-dodecane as compared to that of 5% TBP (the THOREX solvent). Bis(2-ethylhexyl)amine, a radiolytic degradation product of D2EHIBA, could be removed by washing with nitric acid. (author)
