Description
According to the author future light water reactor projects in the United States will build upon the large experience base of operating reactors with design changes to enhance safety and operability at a cost competitive with other generating options. This paper summarizes the Babcock and Wilcox approach to utilizing the experience base with once-through steam generator (OTSG) plants to develop a 600-MWe PWR with enhanced safety and operability features and large design margins
