Phase composition of metal-ceramic beryllium

Description

The phase composition of metal-ceramic berillium of technical purity and distilled berillium has been studied by X-ray structural and physical-chemical analyses. The distilled metal-ceramic berillium has been found to contain berillium oxide BeO, berillium carbide Be2C, Be(Me, Al) intermetallide, some α-SiO2, apparently Be3N2 and also Si in some samples. The technical purity metal-ceramic berillium contains BeO, Be2C, Be12Me and Be5(Me, Al) intermetallides and some α-SiO2. Both kinds of berillium have been found to contain a phase with face-centered cubic lattice with the period of a=5.38 A, which is identified as berillium protoxide Be2O
