Fabrication and properties of multifilament Nb3Sn conductors
Description
Starting from special arrangements of the elements Cu-Nb-Sn, which are drawn to final wire size and then heat treated for 1 to 150 h at temperatures between 650 and 8500C, multifilamentary Nb3Sn composite wires are achieved. Isub(c)-H curves for some samples were measured up to 14,5 Tesla. Mechanical tests to determine allowable bending diameters have been made. (orig.)

Ausgehend von speziellen Anordnungen der Elemente Kupfer, Niob, Zinn, die durch Verbundziehen auf die gewuenschten Enddurchmesser gebracht werden, erhaelt man nach Gluehbehandlungen von 1 bis 150 h bei Temperaturen von 650 bis 8500C Vielkernleiter mit Nb3Sn. Die Strom-Feld-Charakteristik einiger Leiter wurden bei 4,2 K bis 14,5 Tesla ermittelt. Die Abhaengigkeit der kritischen Stroeme von einer Biegebeanspruchung der Draehte wurde untersucht.
