Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation and consultation on nuclear installations near borders

Description
This Agreement signed on 27 September 1977 lays down that the Contracting Parties will inform each other about all nuclear installations constructed along the common border. Nuclear installations within the meaning of the Agreement are installations for the production, processing, reprocessing, manufacture or fission of nuclear fuels and radioactive waste storage. The information to be communicated includes plans and decisions on siting, construction and operation of such installations and relevant documents. The Agreement provides for consultation between the Parties on safety aspects and lays down in detail all the conditions for communication of information. (NEA)

Le present Accord, conclu le 27 septembre 1977, prevoit que les Parties Contractantes se tiendront mutuellement informees de la construction de toutes les installations nucleaires au voisinage de leur frontiere commune. Les installations visees par cet Accord sont les installations pour la production, le traitement, le retraitement, la fabrication et la fission des combustibles nucleaires ainsi que pour le stockage des dechets radioactifs. Les informations devant etre communiquees comprennent les plans des installations et les decisions relatives a leur implantation, construction et exploitation, ainsi que la documentation appropriee. Une consultation entre les Parties est prevue en ce qui concerne les questions de surete et l'Accord stipule les conditions de communication des renseignementsFiles
