Detection limits of radioactive sources embedded in iron

Description
Radioactive sources mixed accidentally or in purpose in old metal scrap might influence the radiation levels in the environment. Absorption of radiation in iron is serious problem for detection radioactive sources that can be embedded in metal. Because of that by radiation control can not detect radioisotopes with little activity and are embedded in metal scrap. In this work we have calculate the minimum activity of radioactive sources that can be detected. For our calculation we have constructed simple method of detection radiation in buck of iron
Abstract (Serbian)
Otpadno gvozdje moze sadrzati radioaktivne izvore, zbog cega se prilikom transporta metala vrsi radioloska kontrola. Absorpcija zracenja u gvozdju predstavlja veliki problem tokom radioloske kontrole jer otezava pronalazenje radioaktivnih elemenata tj. ne mogu se detektovati radioizotopi male aktivnosti koji su smesteni u tovarima metala.
