Annual report of Tokyo Metropolitan Isotope Research Center, fiscal year 1988
Description
30 year have elapsed since the foundation of Tokyo Metropolitan Isotope Research Center in July, 1959. Recently, the technical fields utilizing isotopes and radiations have expanded. The techniques of utilizing isotopes and radiations are versatile from traditional local industries to advanced high technologies. Aiming at the steady expansion of the utilization of isotopes and radiations, this Research Center has exerted efforts for the related business such as tests and researches in various fields and the spread and guidance of the techniques. Also the problems of radiation protection and safety such as the prevention of radiation injuries have been dealt with emphatically. The automation of product inspection utilizing the nondestructive inspection using soft X-ray, the guidance for the reforming of the polymer materials for medical products, the research on the elucidation of radiation damage mechanism at the microstructure level of chromosomes, the research on earthquake prediction by measuring radon concentration, the basic research on radiation breeding and cell culture and so on were carried out.
