The local authority role in radiation protection
Description
The role of local authorities in radiation protection in the United Kingdom is briefly discussed. This includes background gamma dose rate monitoring, contamination monitoring of food and environmental materials and involvement in the Radiation Incidents Monitoring Network (RIMNET) in the event of nuclear incidents originating in the UK or abroad.
