Solid-state catalytic hydrogenation of organic compounds

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (USSR). Inst. Molekulyarnoj Genetiki

Description

The effect of reaction conditions (preparation method of the reaction mixture (Pt black + thymine), catalyst/compound ratio and pressure of the gas phase (hydrogen with 0.1% tritium addition )) on tritium incorporation into reaction products has been studied. Investigation of reaction kinetics at 293 K shows that the kinetic curve of tritiated initial compound comes to 'plateau' at the beginning of the reaction (long before the appreciable drop of the total hydrogenation reaction rate). The observation corresponds to the previously reported prediction of the diffusion model of solid-state catalytic hydrogenation. (author). 4 refs.; 3 figs.; 1 tab
