Resistance method for study of superconductivity in a high-pressure chamber with diamond anvils
Creators
Description
A method is described for the study of superconductivity in a high-pressure chamber with diamond anvils and a metal insert without the introduction of electrical leads into the high-pressure zone. The superconductivity of the specimen, which is located in an opening in the insert and is compressed between the anvils, is recorded according to the change in electrical resistance of the specimen-insert system caused by a superconducting transition in the specimen. The sensitivity of the method is sufficient for determination of the temperature of the superconducting transition and its dependence on the applied pressure for specimens with linear dimensions of up to 50 μm. The method has been tested with tin at a pressure of up to 17 GPa. 16 refs., 4 figs
