Description
We calculate the magnetic susceptibility for the CuO2 plane in high-Tc superconductors based on a two-phase model. Starting from the three-band Hubbard model we arrive at an explicit expression for the total magnetic susceptibility that can be separated into two distinct parts: (i) an antiferromagnetically correlated Heisenberg type term and (ii) a renormalized two-dimensional conductive term. The doping dependences of the antiferromagnetic (Q = (π, π) ) and metallic like (q=(0,0)) contribution to the static magnetic susceptibility are discussed and compared with experimental results.
