Description
The physical chemistry characteristics are described of radioactive gases and aerosols and the properties listed of individual radionuclides (iodine, ruthenium, tritium, rare gases, carbon, etc.). Attention is then focused on separation methods for radionuclides, mainly the adsorption on activated carbon, and on molecular sieves, absorption in liquids, iodine separation in scrubber with corona discharge and in a photochemical scrubber, cryogenic distillation of krypton and xenon, separation of rare gases by perselective membranes, the development of clathrates, incorporation in zeolites, glass and metals, and the separation of radioactive aerosols by filter materials.
