DEMONA - research program for the demonstration of nuclear aerosol behaviour
Description
A research program to demonstrate the behaviour of nuclear aerosols in a large confined volume, as predicted by the aerosol code NAUA, is being carried out in the model containment of Battelle-Frankfurt in cooperation with KfK, EIr and KWU. The latest versions of the aerosol code NAUA and the thermodynamic containment code COCMEL are described together with the planned tests, the model containment and other facilities used. The objectives of the DEMONA program and the related test matrix are discussed. The extensive instrumentation for aerosol measurements under condensing conditions are described. The time schedule for the DEMONA tests and the related evaluation is given. (orig.)

Das Forschungsprogramm DEMONA dient der Demonstration nuklearen Aerosolverhaltens durch Experimente in grossem Massstab. Es wird vom Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe in Zusammenarbeit mit EIR, KWU und Battelle durchgefuehrt. Die Rechenprogramme NAUA zur Beschreibung des Aerosolverhaltens in kondensierender Atmosphaere und COCMEL zur Beschreibung der Thermodynamik werden dargestellt. Die DEMONA-Experimente werden im Modell-Containment von Battelle-Frankfurt durchgefuehrt. Es werden die Ziele des Programms und die zugehoerigen Experimente beschrieben. Die umfangreiche Instrumentierung zur zeitabhaengigen Messung der Aerosolparameter und anderer Groessen wird dargestellt. Eine Uebersicht ueber den zeitlichen Ablauf des DEMONA-Programms wird gegeben. (orig.)
