Transverse section gamma ray imaging and related studies

Description
The concept of image reconstruction from projections has been investigated and applied specifically to the problem of transverse section γ-ray emission imaging. Clinical application of the method has already proved valuable in the detection and localisation of mass lesions within the brain and extension of the method to section imaging of the trunk is shown to be feasible. The reconstruction techniques, collimator properties and γ-ray image manipulation and display have been considered. A compromise between sensitivity and resolution can be made at each stage in the data collection and manipulation. A device with inherently greater sensitivity than an Auger camera is proposed for conventional γ-ray imaging. (U.K.)
