Soft glare for Grafenrheinfeld
Description
No new nuclear power plant has been put into operation in the Federal Republic of Germany for more than two years. With the nuclear power plant Grafenrheinfeld (KKG) near Schweinfurt the Bayernwerk AG now put an end to this pause. More than ten years after application for the construction permit, the operator could take over the 1225 MWsub(e)(net) pressurized water reactor from the manufacturer KWU. Despite delay of construction and increase of costs the KKG will supply electricity which is cheaper by at least 3,5 Pfennigs/kWh than on oil- or hard coal-fired basic load power plant could do - an annual saving of approximately DM 280 million. Abstract (German)
Seit mehr als zwei Jahren ist in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland kein neues Kernkraftwerk in Betrieb gegangen. Mit dem Kernkraftwerk Grafenrheinfeld (KKG) bei Schweinfurt hat die Bayernwerk AG nun die Pause ueberwunden. Mehr als zehn Jahre nach dem Antrag zur Durchfuehrung des Raumordnungsverfahrens konnte der Betreiber den 1225 MWsub(e)(netto-)-Druckwasserreaktor vom Hersteller KWU uebernehmen. Trotz Bauverzoegerungen und Kostenerhoehungen wird das KKG einen um mindestens 3,5 Pfennig/kWH billigeren Strom liefern als ein oel- oder steinkohlebefeuertes Grundlastkraftwerk - eine jaehrliche Ersparnis von etwa 280 Mio.
