Description

Radioisotope 62 Zn is produced by means of the (p,2n) reaction on natural copper target using a 30 MeV cyclotron facility. The reaction cross section is determined as a function of proton energy using ALICE - 91 code. The optimum target thickness is obtained by SRIM code. The isotopic purity and activity of the product have been investigated by gamma-spectrometry. Chemical purity has been tested by chromatography. It is found that the best proton current, the optimum bombardment energy for targets and production yield would be 100μA, 30 MeV and 218.3 x 1015 KBq/μAh respectively. The positron emitter radioisotope 62 Cu has been extracted from 62 Zn. (authors)
