Semiclassical description of a system of fermions in a rotating field

  • 1. Niels Bohr Institutet, Copenhagen (Denmark)
  • 2. McMaster Univ., Hamilton, Ontario (Canada)

Description

A method for extracting the smoothly varying part of the energy of an independent particle system, using a semi-classical expansion of the partition function, has heen proposed some years ago by Bhaduri and Ross (1971). It was recently applied to realistic finite depth potentials and the results were shown to be in good numerical agreement with other semi-classical methods. An application of this method to rotating nuclei is presented. (Auth.)
