Photostimulated desorption from cadmium sulfide surface

Description

Results of parallel investigations of photostimulated parabenzoquinone and oxygen desorption from the surface of cadmium sulfide are presented. The desorption efficiency of benzoquinone as a function of the light pulse intensity was investigated. The lux-ampere characteristics of the samples were simultaneously measured for the purpose of elucidation the non-equilibrium charge carrier influence on the photostimulated desorption. These relationships were compared with the corresponding characteristics of the cadmium sulfide-oxygen system. Investigations carried out indicate the similarity of the acceptor molecules behaviour while interacting with the surface of cadmium sulfide. The results obtained, allow to suppose that regardless the absorbed acceptor molecules type there exists direct connection between their desorption efficiency from the surface of cadmium sulfide at intense illumination and the concentration of vacant photoholes
