The cosmological constant in brief

Description

I review, at a fairly elementary level, the basic kinematic and dynamical consequences associated to the existence of a cosmological term in Einstein's equations. In particular, the recent interpretation of data from Type Ia supernovae in terms of a small, positive, cosmological constant selects a distinguished set of Friedmann-Lemaitre cosmological models. One of them should be the universe where we live
