Description

An subcommittee under International Standardization Organization (ISO/TC 85/SC 2) has developed a number of standards in relation to calibration of neutron measuring device for radiation protection purpose. Among others ISO 8529 specifies characteristics and methods of production of the reference neutron radiation recommended by this standard, calibration fundamentals of radiation protection devices related to the basic quantities characterizing the radiation field, and calibration of area and personal dosimeters and determination of their response as a function of neutron energy and angle of incidence. In addition, ISO 12789-2002 gives the calibration procedure using simulated workplace neutron field. This paper summarizes the content of ISO 8529 standards and gives some information related.
