Thermal conductivity of γ-irradiated LiF at low temperatures

  • 1. CEA Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Grenoble, 38 (France). Dept. de Transfert et Conversion d'Energie

Description

The thermal conductivity of LiF single crystals which were γ-irradiated in a Co60-source at room temperature with doses ranging from 8.5 105 Rad to 3.6 108 Rad was measured in the temperature range from 60mK to 100K. The most heavily irradiated speciment was also measured after annealing treatments at temperatures betweeb 2600C and 4000C. From a numerical analysis of the thermal conductivity data an interpretation of the thermal resistivity due to the radiation damage was derived. (U.K.)
