Description

Magnetic susceptibility data for single crystal La2CuO4 between 100 and 800K are presented. The data above 520K increase linearly with temperature, yielding gc/gab=1.11 ± 0.05. The spin and orbital contributions obtained from the spin 1/2 Heisenberg model are in serious disagreement with those obtained using local crystal field model for the Cu+2 ions. The origin of the inconsistency is unknown at present. (author). 20 refs.; 2 figs.; 1 tab
