Excretion of urinary enzymes in cytostatic and radiotherapy of gynecological tumors

  • 1. Martin-Luther-Universitaet Halle-Wittenberg, Halle (German Democratic Republic). Bereich Medizin

Description

Urinary excretion of alanine aminopeptidase (AAP) and of #betta#-glucuronidase (BGC) was examined in cytostatic and radiotherapy of gynecological tumors. During the 7-days observation period following 17 cytostatic infusions in patients with ovarian carcinoma 2 peaks of enzymatic excretion each were recorded. In 7 patients with uterine carcinoma a peak of enzymatic excretion was found on the 9th day after brachytherapy. During telecobalt or grid irradiation over several weeks the additional enzymatic excretion is regularly undulant. It is possible by means of urinary enzymological examinations to assess the effects of tumor therapy on the kidney and to understand the renal pathobiochemistry. (author)
