Beam-foil lifetime measurements for some 5d10 nl and 5d96s6p levels of Pb IV

Description
The beam-foil technique was used to measure the lifetimes of the 5d105f, 5g, 6d, 6h, 7p, 7d, 8s and 5d96s6p (2)0, (3)0, (6)0, (14)0, (17)0 levels of Pb IV. Correlated decay-curve analyses were used to correct for the effects of cascading in the case of the 5d105f, 5g, 6d, and 7p levels. The numerical Coulomb approximation was used to calculate comparison values for the 5d10 nl levels. The need for a more rigorous calculation for specific levels is discussed. (12 refs., fig., tab.)
