The influence of ionizing radiation on the hormonal levels in men exposed to professional irradiation

Description
The authors studied the influence of ionizing radiation on the hormonal levels in 15 men, exposed to professional irradiation from 10 to 36 years. The testosterove level was found to diminish considerably while the gonadothropins level was elevated. These disturbances were connected with functional changes of primary affected germinal cells. Besides the cortisol level was elevated and aldosterone concentration was decreased in all patients. The reversible changeability of the hormonal disturbances were noted. (author)
