Diagnostics and therapy in nuclear medicine

This is an attempt to make both the practical and clinical physician acquainted with the principles of nuclear medicine and to derive general criteria for clinical application. The passages contain a brief description of the principle and the method applied to each of the techniques, the necessary preparation, the information to be obtained, and the indications resulting therefrom as well as the counterindications. The clinical relevance of the various methods is deliberately treated under the aspects of criticism. Particular emphasis is laid on detailed information about radiation exposure compared with that of radiological methods. Eventually, the author contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of all the methods and evaluates their practicability and economy. (BAS)
