A comparison of effective dose equivalents from three major internal dose compilations

  • 1. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN (USA)

Description

From three compilations of data related to radiation dose to internal organs due to inhalation and ingestion of radionuclides, effective dose equivalents (as defined in ICRP Publication 26) have been computed and are presented in tabular form for 107 radionuclides. For most of the radionuclides, corresponding dose equivalents from the three compilations show reasonable agreement. Within each compilation, the effective dose equivalents indicate a fair degree of insensitivity (generally well within an order of magnitude) to variations in metabolic models and parameters for systemic organs, and for inhaled radionuclides, to variations in the respiratory clearance class. Differences in the models and data bases of the three compilations are summarized. (author)
