Description

Within the scope of nuclear fusion by magnetic confinement, there are several considerations to achieve the desired ignition of the plasma, one of them lies in the plasma temperature, which must be at hundreds of millions of degrees Celsius and that together with the density and confinement time must comply with Law son's criteria, thus it would indicate compliance with the necessary conditions to perform fusion, in this area various heating techniques applied in fusion have been developed. In this work, the Fusion Research Group of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, projects an RF pre-ionization system for a magnetically confined plasma which is currently under development and under construction, the microwave source is economical and will serve as a pre-ionization system in the spherical Tokamak supporting T (Sts-T), using a 2.45 GHz magnetron. The designed magnetron microwave source polarizes the magnetron cathode, has been modified to obtain a pulsed mode operation, this is achieved through certain modifications in the full wave voltage bender circuit of the heating device and thus having the magnetron stable for several milliseconds of operation. This RF system will be used in magnetically confined plasma through a 0.5 T field with 5 ms discharge, giving an excellent experimental base in the Sts-T. (Author)
